Our Story

Gone Fishing

Picture of Gone Fishing

Cliche as it sounds, we met on an app, Plenty of Fish to be precise, the day we "matched" not so precise, sometime in August of 2019. Our first date was in September at Sombrero's. Also cliche but true, time slipped away from us during that first meeting, so much so that the staff flicked the lights off and on a couple of times to indicate it was time to close and for us to politely leave.

We continued to date each other and other people and go out when our kid and work schedules allowed until one afternoon in early November. Aaron was flying out to Vegas for a "reunion" with friends from Texas and spent the majority of his flight messaging, flirting and "inviting" me to join him. One thing led to another and I found myself packing a bag and hopping on one of the last flights out of KC to Vegas. By the time I got there, let's just say he was already done for the night. So I had two choices, one to stay and help him recover for day 2 in Vegas or two to turn around and take the next flight back. Obviously, I chose to stay and well, the rest is history.

Since that fateful trip, we've lived through a pandemic, four graduations for our kids, sending one off to another continent twice, two to university, and countless trips where I am lucky enough to be his permanent "companion pass." This past year brought an unexpected colorectal cancer diagnosis for Aaron, chemotherapy, multiple surgeries, but most importantly remission with a very little chance of recurrence.

We've been blessed with an abundance of family and friends that love us unconditionally, are always up for a Karaoke night, or an evening in playing cards and games. We are thankful for each and every one of you.
